Giveaway results! Plus random crazy fabric find of the month....

It's time to reveal the winners of my little giveaway! I know you've all been desperately wondering if you will be the one to win some glow-in-the-dark knitting needles! My beloved decided he should be the one to pick the winners - winner of package number 1 is Mary Maryall, and winner of package number 2 is Danielle! Whoohooo! I will be sending you both an email soon to get your addresses and send off a nice big fat package to each of you - congrats! Do let me know what you make!

It seems that in the last couple of months I have discovered some pretty crazy fabrics - July my parents gave me some Tiny Dancer Liberty (I've pretty much made up my mind what that gem will become) and last month I found my crazy cat fabric which was whipped up into my crazy cat lady top. Today I popped into Darn Cheap Fabrics in Heidelberg for some interfacing, and was doing my usual sniff around to see what was new (for research purposes only!) when I came across some random Dolce and Gabbana fabric printed with the artwork of most nutty Dutch painter of the 15th century, and one of the favourite artists of my dear cousin Hannah (who loyally reads this blog despite having zero interest in sewing - hello sweet cheeks) - that's right.... Hieronymus Bosch.

You can read more intellectual theories on Mr Bosch and his inspiration here but after travelling with Hannah throughout Europe and seeing many a psychadelic tryptich we came to the conclusion that Mr Bosch must have had some pretty special mushrooms growing near his studio. This fabric is printed with a version of the Garden of Earthly Delights - the painting features nudes figures hanging out, hugging giant fruit, riding freaky animals and generally having a super time, whilst Adam and Eve chill on the left, and hell looks a bit murkier on the right had side.

It's hard to believe this work is about 500 years old! So now you know where to go next time you are looking for a nice quality poly printed with cavorting nudes, weird blue futuristic pod things, religious motifs and hybrid imaginary creatures - enjoy!

  1. That is such cool fabric - I was in at Darn Cheap on Friday and noticed it too! I find that I am keeping an eye out to see if you are there - I'm sure that we'll bump into one another at some stage.

    1. Haha no doubt we will! I tend to lurk there on Tuesdays when it's my day off! I'll be the one stroking all the fabrics and checking the synthetic content of all the knits!

    1. Oh you should! I've just checked their website and its not on there but if you really wanted it I'm sure you could email them! It's got a lovely drape, but I don't think I can justify adding it into my stash! I've got an overdose of prints at the moment!
